April report

Huntley Meadows – After last summer’s drought, the athletic fields were damaged.  We evaluated the fields at the end of the season, and saw further damage from grubs, and the subsequent wildlife that dig underground in search of food.  Todd Holmes, a turf expert used by the SAU, and recommended by many other departments, was contacted.  He recommended that we make an attempt to reduce the amount of pet waste on the fields, and offered to create a field plan for Norwich.  Unfortunately, we did not receive a plan from him, and had to reach out to other area turf companies.  So far, we have had one consult from Chippers, who have presented a 3 stage plan to fence the affected areas, aerate, overseed and fertilize each area while allowing it to rest.   The DPW aerated, and overseeded the areas that we will
