November report
All of our soccer and trail running programs ended early this month.  We ran an outdoor basketball program until mid-November, when the state restrictions tightened.  Our basketball program was very popular, and we may look to run it again next fall.

Programs moved online with two new programs:  ‘Norwich Nailed It’ and ‘What’s Weird This Week?’.  Norwich Nailed It is a community cooking competition that is sponsored by King Arthur Baking, Pete & Gerry’s Eggs and Norwich Farm Creamery.  Each participant chooses either the Beginner or Advanced recipe, selects their category (Youth/Adult/Group), and whether or not they are purchasing the optional Local Suppliers package.  This package includes products from our sponsors.  All participants who choose to enter their results into the competitive/judged portion of the program emails photos of their work.  Judges from our community select winners and Honorable Mentions from the photos.  The prize for each category is a handpainted golden mixing spoon, a miniature bottle of sparkling cider and a $5 gift card to a local business.  The program will run for 6 weeks, ending January 3rd.

‘What’s Weird This Week?’ is a program that runs over the winter school break.  It will cover 3 weeks, from December 21st – January 9th.  Each participant is given an activity bag with several recipes, crafts, reading material and games that assist them in celebrating every off beat holiday that occurs during the week.  The idea of this program is to give families ways to celebrate each day together over the extended winter vacation.  We plan to give half of the bags to those who have been identified as being in need or at risk, with the objective of lessening the burden of keeping children actively engaged during a pandemic.
