February report
Basketball finished their season on February 14th, with a tournament at Hanover, NH.  Our 5/6 boys and 3/4 girls won their respective brackets, and everyone had a wonderful time.  This season served as a return to girls basketball for Norwich, after not being able to field a 3/4 team last year, and entering this year with only a few returning experienced players at the 5/6 level.  It was truly a season of growth – both in skill and maturity.
Creative Kids, a new open studio format art program, filled a gap in after school programming for 18 families.  The spring session will open on 4/23.

On Valentine’s Day, Norwich Recreation worked with Youth in Action to host a babysitting night for parents.  16 families attended. The event was funded by the MAHHC grant and all proceeds went to Youth in Action.

We announced the launch of a Youth Advisory Council here in Norwich, led by teens and serving as a sounding board for how our town can best engage and involve our younger residents.
Nordic in Norwich celebrated its first year with skiing, skating, hiking, Pickleball, Open Gym and brunch.

The ice rink and ski tracks were well-used this month, both being groomed by some extremely organized caretakers.  They did a fantastic job with such changing weather.
Norwich Recreation ended our relationship with SiPlay this month, and moved to a more flexible and economical format – MyRec.  This system is also used by Hanover Parks & Rec, so the transition from Marion Cross to Richmond Middle and Hanover High Schools will have a familiar face for our Norwich families.
